Choice Adviser Training

School Choice Adviser VRQ

The Level 2 Award for School Choice Advisers vocationally related qualification, accredited by ABC Awards (ABC) is aimed at age 19+ candidates who are working as School Choice Advisers. It is accredited by QCA and therefore eligible for LSC funding.

Level 2 Award for School Choice Advisers

Whilst School Choice Advisers are funded through the Local Authorities, and their training organised by them, it is essential that School Choice Advisers are independent and are seen to offer impartial advice. The DCSF believes that an accredited qualification in School Choice Advice will give a Choice Adviser a clear status as an independent professional.

This qualification is unique in that it incorporates a combination of skills and knowledge – based on communicating with hard-to-reach groups and using, interpreting and passing on relevant information about an ever-changing range of schools to choose from at year six.

This qualification accredits and enables School Choice Advisers to provide independent, impartial, realistic, quality advice to parents and carers. The Award is made up of one mandatory unit and has been allocated ten guided learning hours for completion.

The Level 2 Award for School Choice Advisers is internally assessed by the centre through a portfolio of evidence, which is externally moderated by ABC Awards. All candidates must compile a portfolio of evidence that shows achievement of all the relevant learning outcomes and knowledge requirements for the mandatory unit.
