Edge Hill / CENTRA Accreditation Agreement
for a Schools CPD Programme

THE IMPACT OF YOUR SCHOOL'S CPD PROGRAMME: AN EVALUATION

The purpose of this evaluation project is to explore Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in schools: how the programme is planned; how it relates to school and/or individual priorities; and, above all, how the impact of CPD activities on teachers' thinking, planning and practice is monitored and evaluated.

What do you need to do?

1) Present a copy of your CPD programme for 2006 / 2007 together with a brief (i.e. 1000 - 1500 words) commentary on how it was developed:
  • Based on staff needs analysis?
  • Linked to identified priorities in school development plan?
  • Linked to identified priorities in individual performance review?
  • In response to individual requests / bids?
  • Nominations by senior staff?
  • Balance between in-house provision and attendance at external courses/events?

2) Summarise (1500 - 2000 words) how you currently monitor / evaluate the impact of CPD:
  • Survey of staff to establish impact of CPD?
  • Evaluation form asking staff how they plan to use the CPD?
  • Individual/departmental action plan including how CPD and development of policy/practice are linked?
  • Staff analysis of pupil responses to changes e.g. enjoyment, motivation, results?
  • Pupil feedback on changes to e.g. approach / methodology / curriculum?

What do you receive for doing this?
  • Accreditation, free of charge
  • A Certificate of Professional Development
  • 20 credits (the equivalent of one module) towards a postgraduate award if you wish
  • The opportunity to undertake a further 40 credits free of charge, which would give you a Postgraduate Certificate in Education
