Help with my U/W MTG control deck (pt 2)?
Question: So I asked once and got a lot of good feedback. I can not afford some of the cards that would be really powerful in this deck. My budget is already slim as it is. This is what I have so far: 4x Wall of Omens 3x Day of Judgement 2x Venser 2x Elspeth Tirel 2x Jace, the mind sculptor (I got another one!!!!) 4x Baneslayer angel 2x Sea gate Oracle 4x preordain 1x Sphinx of Jwar Isle 4x Mana Leak 2x Negate 2x Essence scatter 4x Seachrome coast 3x Celestial colonade 4x Tectonic edge 3x Terramorphic expnse 8x Island 8x Plains What do you think? Is there anything that I could do (remember- Budget) to fix or power this deck up. I have a very large collection going back to zendikar (which I think is where standard legal begins right now anyway) so if there are good cards for this let me know. I may not have to buy them. There are a few things I do not agree with Dignone. Not that he is wrong and I am right but my point of view is slight different. 1. Path to Exile is no long in Standard. 2. U/x control doesn't need to end game fast. Control has never been designed to be "aggro" or quick. It is designed to control and counteractive. That's why control deck does nothing if its opponent doesn't do anything. You can't Doom Blade until your opponent has a legal target on board. You don't counter until your opponent cast spells. If you act BEFORE your opponent, you provide a window for your opponetn to sneak in a threat and you won't have mana to counter, to doom blade. 3. Beef up creatures with True Conviction. It is in general a waste of mana to do enchantment unless the enchantment comes with a very good ability. True Conviction does nothing by itself for 6 mana. I would rather have another Baneslayer which is cheaper and can block or attack. Journey to Nowhere is a GOOD enchantment because it is a removal by itself for just 2 mana. 4. Mystifying Maze: DON'T use it against Grave Titan because you are just spending 4 mana to GIFT your opponent 2 free zombie tokens. The maze is NO use against any of the 5 Titans from M11 because when the titans come back, it is more beneficial to your opponent than to you. Unless you are sure you can win game the turn you exile the titan. Using Jace to bounce a Grave Titan is to buy you another turn. At least your opponent has to hard cast the titan again. Against other deck like Red Deck Win, Vampire, Maze is too slow. By turn 4, Vampire already has a table of creatures and spending 4 mana on a 2-mana-cost 2/2 vampire is just not effective enough. Journey to Nowhever is much cheaper. 5. Terramorphic Expense: I believe you included this to replace fetch lands? If so, it is prefectly fine in a budget deck. Since you are U/W, you can use Halimar Depth instead as it combo with Venser (bounce Halimar to arrange library). 6. Mix of counter spells. You need to know what archetype you will face most of the time to decide which counter spell to main and side board. a) Flashfreeze: against Eldrazi Ramp, Red Deck Win, Valakut b) Mana Leak: pretty much staple but remember, the value of Mana Leak drops as the game goes longer. c) Mindbreak Trap: good against U/x control because mirror for U/x equals counter war. d) Deprive: Can combo with Halimar but be careful don't do it when you need mana because Halimar comes into play tapped. This is good as Digone said to bounce any land which doesn't come into play tapped and play it untap for another mana. e) Spell Pierce: Cheap to cast and can counter almost everything. Great in counter war. f) Negate: not as cheap as Spell Pierce but good in late game. Both Spell Pierce and Negate are not good against Eldrazi and Vampire. So you need to side in/out between game. g) Cancel, Stoic Rebuttal: You always need hard counter in U/x deck. 7. Jace Beleren: it can't replace Jace TMS but it is still good and a whole lot cheaper ($$ vise) to get. You can also use this to kill your opponent's Jace TMS because they have the same subtype "Jace". 8. Land count: you have 32 at the moment which is too much. Either take out Teramorphic or take some basic lands out. 9. Side board: if you intend to play in tournament, consider figure out a side board too. Side board is just as impoartant as your main deck because it gives you options and better chance to win more archetype.
probably easier to get the manual from crutchfield: http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield... it's on page 32-33. I installed a similar unit in my sister's boat. if I remember right you have to turn the aux function on and off while the unit is powered off. That stumped me for a while.
I don't really see a need for the terramorphic's, there better for landfall I would just add more basic lands so there not tapped or more non-basics lands as for essence scatter and negate they are good but what if you have one (like essence scatter) but need the other (negate) then your beat. I like deprive because if you deprive on your turn and haven't layed a land yet you can play the land untapped so it's a counter for 1 mana and you can counter creatures and non-creature spells. In control you want to end the game fast and in your deck there's two ways have your big creature hit the field I use blue/black so my game ender is grave titan in this it seems to be baneslayer so try running something to beef it up like true conviction which gives all your creatures double strike and life link for 6 mana. If your strategy is to use jace then try using more counters and have lands like mystifying maze to immobilize attacking strong creatures then path to exiles for indistructables or grave titans. But then you'll want more counters less mass destroys and planeswalkers more draw cards and protect cards for jace. You seem to have a nice build I like blue/black more for cards like duress, memoricide, sadistic sacrament, and grave titan. But that it personal opinion =) hope I helped
sounds like you'll just have to jump the 2 male fittings... but you know what dangers bypassing the safety will do... but it's your machine, your consequences...
i might say some snapcaster mages and a few caravan of souls (that one is from avacyn) different than that..... Farbog Explorer, Thraben Valiant, Zealous Strike, hour of darkness Duelist, Moorland Inquisitor, to in basic terms call some. maximum of them are from Avacyn Restored
There is a wire going to the unit from your car that tells it when you are in park. This mechanism is required to be there by law so the driver can not watch the monitor when the car is moving. The installer will not by pass this because of legal issues. You should go to the installer and ask how you can disable this feature that may be as simple as cutting a wire or connecting it to one that is "hot" depending on how your setup is. The installer will tell you what to do but will probably not do it himself cause he would face legal problems if you ended up in a crash and the monitor was brought up in court as being able to play when the car was moving.
