Should I get a truck or a sports car?
Question: I could get a 2006 mustang or a 2006 ford F-150. I like to drive fast when no ones around but I don't like how I can't fit as many people. I want a truck because in the summer I could go mow lawns for money and I could use it to tow/haul things but at the expense of not being able to drive as fast. Right now I have a 2002 acura mdx and its pretty nice and all but I can't go fast and i can't tow/haul stuff. I am a 15 year old male.

You are in one tough situation. I would not even consider the mowing lawn part since many kids say they will an usually don't. The Mustang will probably be your best choice. Though it is a coupe is does have sufficient rear leg and headroom to fit 2 adults comfortably. If you really need to haul supplies, there are towing hitches for cars such as the Mustang and the owner's manual will advise you on the recommended weight the car should tow. It will really depend on what engine you go. Obviously the V8 will give you more power, speed, handling, and towing weight. The V6 is a good engine which gives a good compromise between MPG and Power but if you are going to tow heavy objects, would not be your best choice. Both Mustang engine choices will probably tow the amount you will need it to do. A truck is a classic teenage car since it somehow impresses women and can be heightened. However, a truck is a truck and it will handle exactly how you would expect it to. A big truck like the F-150 will have modest straight line performance but handling will be very bad since the leaf springs are very soft and the spring rates are low. The Mustang will be your best choice given your situation. It would be advisable to get the V8 version since it has the best of both worlds and GT Mustangs have always been hailed as the best Mustang in the Mustang line that will give you great performance, low cost and comfortable ride. It's a matter of convenience. I've never owned an automatic & don't want one. Manuals are easier to repair, cheaper to maintain, give better gas mileage, are more fun to drive, reduce wear on brakes by downshifting and many more reasons. You should buy whichever one suits you best.

While both of those choices are good, i would go for the 2006 ford f150. The reasons are as such: 1. your insurance will be greatly increased for purchasing a mustang, 2. the depreciation of a mustang is higher than any ford F150 models. and finally 3. should you get into an accident your physical outcome is mush better in an F150 vs. the mustang. Also, the ford f150 goes just as fast since it is designed to haul up to 500,000 pounds of weight. Oh and the ladies prefer a man that deviates from the rest of the crowd! Good luck man
I'm not a driver, but I'm a dispatcher for 30 local drivers in WA. They all own their own trucks, and they all switched to local work after spending many years doing long haul. New drivers don't have as many options with companies, as many companies are now requiring more experience to hire someone. Long haul companies (Schneider, JB Hunt, Interstate, Knight Transportation) are usually easier to get jobs with because many experienced drivers don't want to work in long haul. Also, check with the very small companies in your area (mom n pop operations). If you are considering truck driving, you need to consider how long you want to be away from your family. How much money do you expect to make? Many drivers make 100,000+ a year gross, but after expenses, taxes, and maintenance, this becomes much lower. I think the biggest complaint about the job that my local drivers have is that the union workers at the terminal are not good to work with. Hope this helps a bit.
I hate mustangs so thats out there. if you get a F-150 extended cab you can still fit your friends in it just like the mustang. no one likes riding in the back of any sports car. the truck will suck the gas money right out of you but insurance should be lower. the mustang will go faster but you can always upgrade the computer and exhaust in the truck to beat the mustang. the f-150 should be limited to like 115 mayb 120. what state are you in? snow or not? what activities are you wanting to do. id take the truck since i have a bike.
I am a freight broker trucks do not get paid by the hour they get paid by the mile. some companies that will guarantee to take a load anywhere get paid 3-4 dollars a mile. If you want to get paid well get bonded a bid military freight they pay very well. we have loads that pay as little as 95C a mile and as much a 10 dollars depending on what they are and where they are going. leasing to a company means that they are taking anywhere from 7 to 17% off the top you do the math.
