Why will my dvd- rw drive not see contents of disc?
Question: the drive has power, it opens and closes but when open the drive in my computer, i get a blank explorer window. will not autoplay, have a drive letter, whether i have disc in drive or not i can open explorer window, but contents of disc always blank. someone please help me:(

Is it with just that one disc? If so maybe the contents on that disc did not write properly. Try doing it with other discs. If the same problem occurs it may very well be something wrong with the drive. Maybe your lense is going bad. Use CD/DVD lense cleaner if you got one and try again.
Kernel Undelete is the best solution in this case of deleted files. I myself have great experience with its recovering capabilities. I would like to suggest this one.
when there's no CD in it, you can open it as a blank disk, since you can put file in that "blank disk" for later burning. And your problem is when you insert a disc, it does not show anything? If so, I think either your Disc is broken or your DVD rom is. Or your Operation System (like WinXP) does not regonize your DVD rom, you need to find the drive and install it.
You are using an WinXP machine. I am truly shocked. I'm using win 7home premium and I have probems. Buy a new machine at best buy and fortet about fixing an old XP machine
try other disk, some dvd formats wont work with the drive you have if other dvds play this could be the prob!!!
The temp folder *should* be empty anyway, but programs invariable leave junk here, particularly if the program crashes out or errors in any way. Your internet browser might also store cached data in here long term, though it should have its own folder for that (temporary internet files). No harm will befall your computer, and it might have even sped things up a bit.
