Why does everyone think that linux is so much harder than Linux?
Question: I mean my 7 year old little brother could use it perfectly within 10 minutes, and he loved it! Is it just because windows has been around so long? Can't you run most windows programs under wine? As for games, Master of Orion 3 seems to work better than under windows, and runescape HD is a real treat.

When people try Linux, they expect it to work just like Windows. They assume that because they are "Windows experts" they will have no problem using Linux. They don't realize that no matter how good you are with Windows, when you start with Linux or any other OS they are a novice. Linux isn't supposed to work the same as Windows, how could it be better if it was the same? If they'd take the time to RTFM and actually learn Linux, they'd see that it's better and the way it does things makes a hell of a lot more sense. You can run about 70% of Windows software under Wine. It's not possible for them to run better in Wine than in Windows (since they run natively on Windows), performance is usually about the same or sometimes a little worse.
You will need to create at least two linux partitions. A data partition (perhaps set it up 16 gb ext3). And a swap partition (swap file type - you can set it up to be 1 gb). The swap partition is used by linux as a virtual memory space. Make sure you make your linux data partition bootable, because linux will automatically give you a menu (boot manager grub or lilo) that you can load either windows or linux at startup.
Drivers are a major issue. Another problem is that iTunes doesn't really work and people are lazy to look for a work around (I buy my music so its a no go for me). Another problem is games, a fair ammount of people are major gamers, they want the best graphics and the newest games. Unfortunatly games new games don't run well or at all on Linux.
I can tell you a way to restore the old way of booting, namely only Windows. - boot from the Windows CD - choose "repair console" or so; I think you do it by pressing "e" - wait till the console loads, then type in "fixmbr" and press ENTER - you will be seeing a warning but don't worry, it will affect only the boot region of the hard disk - when it's done, take out the Windows CD and type in "exit" to reboot - that's it
People don't like change. They're used to Windows, so switching to Linux or even Mac will annoy them. Also, issues come up with drivers. Many printers and other devices are not compatible with Linux. Luckily, this is slowly changing.
