Question: Yesterday we had a pretty bad rain and the roads were still really wet when I was driving home from school. I was at a stop light and when it turned green I tried accelerating but my wheels just started spinning but I didn't go anywhere. After I finally got traction I drove for about 20 feet and I instantly started to hydroplane. Now I know what to do when this happens but I freaked when I started to slide into the car next to me. So I jerked the wheel to avoid the collision and instantly spun out of control and ended up on the sidewalk almost hitting a road sign. Luckily I didn't hit anyone and my car only suffered a few minor scratches. I can't help but feel that this was 100% my fault and the whole ordeal keeps playing through my mind. My car is rwd and I had cheap tires but the tread wasn't awful, not good either though.
