**Question:**
I am trouble with inserting a formula for a spreadsheet for homework. It is worded like this:
In cell B15, enter the formula to calculate the price to the bookstore. The price to the bookstore is calculated by subtracting the standard discount from the retail price. The discount is calculated by multiplying the retail price (B13) by the standard discount rate (B14).
If you can make sense of it what would be the best formula to use. I appreciate all of your answers.

Hi, This is what you want to enter in B15: =B13-(B13*B14) This calculates the parentheses first, so B13 (Retail Price) * B14 (discount rate) = amount of discount Then it subtracts the discount amount from the retail price. so if the retail price is $25, discount rate is 15%, you get $25-($25*15%) $25-($25*.15) $25-($3.75) $21.25

=B13-(B13*B14) Put this in Cell B15 Job done. EDIT: B13 should contain the price B14 should contain a % value - for example 10%

How is it you are not aware that Office for Mac's is a completely different product from that for PC's? So, unless you are prepared to pay for it, get OpenOffice for Mac's. It's been around a long time, a free and complete office suite that has everything MSOffice has. A previous answer gave you the link to get this. And I vehemently disagree with "viable" who claims that openoffice has been around longer than MS Office. openoffice was created in the late 1990's, bought by Sun in 1999 and thereafter the source code was released in 2000. I was teaching Microsoft Office in 1990. It was created in 1989 - 9 to 10 years before openoffice.
