Question: Is there any risk of damage using the wrong printer driver? Will it cause any damage to the printer? Here's my situation -- I had an old HP DeskJet 870Cse and it finally broke, the new printer (HP OfficeJet 5610) uses a driver that's not native to XP. I need the printer to use a native XP driver because when the computer is used as a Remote-Desktop client the server only has XP's built-in drivers, and insufficiant permissions to install other drivers. Is it safe to just use another more generic HP driver that's part of XP? I'm willing to sacrifice features to get this working...but it needs to work with at least basic black/white text using only drivers that XP has built-in.
