Question: i bought a laptop that came with microsoft office 2007, but whenever i try to use it asks for a product key. how would i go about obtaining this key? should it have came with the laptop or do i have to buy it?

If you purchased Office with the laptop the key should have been on a sheet of paper with your system. If you cannot find it then contact who you purchased the system from and ask them for help. If you didn't buy it then it will be a free trial that would have been included and you have 60 days before the trial will expired. You need to buy the package to activate the product.

it's a free trial for 1 month. You can ask the ppl whom you bought the laptop from. Btw look at All Programs, there should be a folder to activate MS Office 2007.
It's probably a limited time demo that's expired. That's normally what they put on computers these days. Microsoft wants another $150. You can give it to them, or if you don't want to, Sun Microsystems, the people who made Java, also make another version of Office, it's completely compatible with Microsoft's. Uninstalling Microsoft Office 2007 and reinstalling it will not lose you any of your documents, as it will only remove Microsoft Office 2007. Please note that what you were trying to do is illegal. If you do not intend to buy Microsoft Office 2007, uninstall it and instead install OpenOffice 3, which is free of charge and more than likely will be all you need.
